Tourist flow in Colca valley, Arequipa southern Peru soared 17% in July compared to the same period 2009, informed the Head of Autonomous Authority of Colca (Autocolca) Jose Luis Talavera Suarez.
The official stated that in 2009 the entity registered the arrival of 19,521 between national and international tourists.
Peru’s National Holidays in July caused the increase in the percentage achieving a new record of visitors per day.
Talavera recalled that in July 29 Colca Valley received over 1,400 tourists compared to 800 or 1000 visitors per regular day, he hopes the situation to be the same in August due to Arequipa’s 470 anniversary of foundation.
For August, Colca Valley is previewed to host 25,000 national tourists and foreigners. From January to July, the valley received 87,895 tourists compared to 76,492 visitors a year before.
Colca Valley is located in Caylloma province, four hours far from Arequipa.
