Cuzco hosts fourth edition of Dulce Peru 2010

Starting today, traditional and innovative desserts are showcased at Regocijo square, in the city of Cusco, as part of the fourth edition of the national competition Dulce Peru 2010.

According to Alfredo Saenz, representative of the organizing company GGD Comunicaciones, the event features more than 25 local desserts, including mazamorra de quinua, dulce de calabaza, dulce de níspero, sierra nevada, dulce de tomate, guisado, maná, manzana con chancaca and suspiro.

However, attendees can also taste creations made with elder, sachatomate, aguaymanto, cocoa, coffee, among other products.

A team of judges will select the best local dessert, which will then compete at the Dulce Lima event against Piura’s beso de limon, Arequipa’s camotillo, Lambayeque’s king kong, and other delicacies from Trujillo, Iquitos, Cajamarca and Tacna that are yet to be chosen.

The jury includes Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board (Promoperu) representative Angela Marick, Le Cordon Bleu culinary school chefs Miriam Tumchin and Giovana de Rivero, as well as of Cusco’s gastronomy historian Rosario Olivas.
