
Assistance offered by tourism information office Iperu Arequipa increased by 40% during Peru’s National Holidays on late July compared to the same period 2009, said IPerú supervisor in that region, Yermeth Murguía Vizcardo.
From July 24th to August 1st 2010, Iperu Arequipa registered 2,304 tourist information requests while in the same period last year, assistances totaled 1,680, stated Murguia.
Iperu Arequipa said national tourists flow during Peru’s National Holidays represented 62% of total assistances.
Most national tourists visiting Arequipa came from Lima and southern cities like Puno and Tacna which means that Peruvians are interested in knowing their country.
On the ocassion of Arequipa’s 470 anniversary of foundation, Iperu has planned to assist general public in its three main offices located in Arequipa, at the main square, Santa Catalina Monastery and Arequipa’s airport.
Iperu is a tourism information office run by state agency Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board (Promperu).
