Over 5000 tourists to visit Paracas during Independence holidays.

The Paracas National Reserve in Peru’s southern coastal desert expects more than 5,000 Peruvian and foreign visitors during the long holiday weekend from July 28 to August 1.

David Orozco, the reserve’s acting director, said that during the independence holidays most visitors are from Ica and Lima, while foreigners come from Germany, Spain, England, the U.S. and China.

“Now that the World Cup has ended, we expect to receive a lot of foreign tourists by the end of this month,” he told Andina.

Orozco pointed out that given the large number of visitors, local authorities are taking precautionary measures so that tourists can enjoy their visit. “There will be chemical toilets available at various tourist spots,” he said.

According to Orozco, several police officers and park rangers will be at different locations throughout the reserve. They will be ready to welcome and help tourists that come to one of the major attractions in Peru.

“The aim is to ensure tourists a pleasant stay so that they can return any time recommend us as a tourist destination,” the official added.
