Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) organized three roadshows in London, Manchester and Edimburgh (United Kingdom) to promote Peru´s attractions among 240 British tour operators.
The roadshows, which took place on April 19 in Edimburgh, April 20 in Manchester and April 22 in London, were broadly covered by the British media.
Promperu was accompanied by a delegation of ten Peruvian exhibiting companies with representations in the United Kingdom and willing to establish work relations to strengthen their presence in that market.
The roadshows goals is to include new Peru’s products and destinations in the sales portfolio of the British tour operators and obtain information from British suppliers, Promperu reported to Andina news agency.
Furthermore, each city hosted a negotiation round, in which business appointments were established between tour operators and suppliers.
The cities of Manchester and Edinburgh were particularly important because it is the first time they host such events to promote Peru destination.
Promperu said Machu Picchu reopening can help to promote the area to the British tourism industry and the press as its impact will contribute to accelerate the revival of this region.
“Travel agencies training has always been an important aspect of our work in the UK”, PromPeru’s Marketing and Sales manager, Gwendoline Meyrick, was quoted as saying by the British website ttglive.com.
According to the website, which specializes in the travel industry, Peru is benefiting from the positive publicity of Machu Picchu reopening to tourists as well as visits by supermodel Kate Moss and actress Susan Sarandon.
Finally, Promperu said the roadshows in the United Kingdom is an opportunity to promote the implementation of strategic alliances with British intermediaries.
