Peru, April 09
The visit of the Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon generated an economic impact of several million dollars since it received international media coverage in several languages, said the director of Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) Jacqueline Saettone.
“Initial estimates indicate several million dollars, which was focused on advertising impact,” she pointed out.
According to Saettone, media coverage was “fantastic” because it was translated into several languages including English, Japanese, Italian, Portuguese, and German.
She recalled that the US actress visited Peru as a part of the program “Celebrities” that Promperu launched to reactivate tourism in Cusco, which have to pay for all related expenses of attending guests and traveling companions as well.
Given the country’s image that has been portrayed abroad by the American actress, Saettone said Peru will continue to invite celebrities as part of its strategic approach.
