Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board (Promperu) is encouraging public and private sector workers to spend the long holiday weekend of June 26-29 visiting the wealth of tourist attractions in the country’s 25 regions.
Thousands of vehicles are expected to flood Peruvian roads on Saturday June 26, which marks the beginning of a four-day long weekend, offering people a great opportunity to tour spectacular attractions and historic sites across the country.
Monday June 28 and Tuesday June 29 are declared non-working days because of the feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, a liturgical feast in honour of the martyrdom in Rome of the apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul.
In a bid to promote tourism, Promperu has launched a tourism information website with useful tips about travel destinations, museums, hotels, culinary delights and much more.
For those interested in history, Promperu recommends following the Moche Route in Northern Peru and appreciate the beauty of archaeological and historical sites such as Chan Chan, El Brujo complex and the Huaca del Sol and Huaca de la Luna.
The Inca Baths in Cajamarca, Paca Lagoon in Junin, Paracas National Reserve and Nasca Lines in Ica, Chavin de Huantar ruins in Ancash, and Colca Canyon in Arequipa are some other interesting tourist places to visit in Peru during the upcoming holidays.
According to Promperu, other major attractions include the Kuelap Fortress and Gocta Waterfalls in Amazonas, Lake Titicaca in Puno, and the jungle provinces of Tarapoto and Tingo Maria.
