Tourists from around the globe who want to visit the archaeological monuments of Cusco will soon be able to purchase online tickets.

This new service aims to help visitors save time as they will not have to make long queues in the existing ticket offices and, according to local authorities, it also seeks to protect them from fraud.

“The idea is to implement a system similar to that of plane tickets. You buy your ticket online, print it at home, and enjoy your trip safely,” said the Director of Cusco’s National Institute of Culture (INC) Juan Garcia.

Garcia said that representatives of INC and Peruvian state bank Banco de la Nación (BN) “are fully focused on this project which is making good progress.”
