Itinerary

Detailed itinerary:

We get transferred from the hotel to the outskirts of Cuzco and to «El Rancho», where our guide and our horses will be awaiting for us. Our first stop is at Sacsayhuamán archaeological site (Puma’s head), a majestic place with amazing stonework, some of them weighing up to 120 tons. These stones were be brought by Inca workers from the most remote sites, given that there are no quarries near this impressive Inca structure. In this place, every 24th of June, the Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun) takes place.

The tour progresses with a visit to Q’enqo (Labyrinth), a religious centre dedicated to the worship of the Pachamama (Mother Earth) and, according to some theories, to funeral rituals. Riding through the native woods we get to Puca Pucara (Red Place), site that was used as a military centre and checkpoint, as well as a compulsory stopover for all travellers during Inca times. Our last destination, Tambomachay (Temple of Water), was used as centre to worship the water. Later, we return to “El Rancho” where our transportation will be waiting to take us back to the hotel in Cuzco.
